Top 5 Covid Conspiracy Theories: Beware of these Theories

There are many conspiracy theories related to the origin of Covid-19 and these conspiracy theories make the Covid-19 pandemic worse. Here are the top 5 Covid Conspiracy theories revolving around.

Covid Conspiracy 1: Bill gates as a victim

Many people gave two logics to support this conspiracy theory. The first was that, in a 2015 TED Talks, Bill Gates said that the next biggest risk to humanity is not of a nuclear war but of a dangerous virus that will kill millions of people in the coming times. And after this conspiracy theory, that TED talk video got 25 million new views.

The second was that the Gates Foundation was funding a British group that had patents related to the Coronavirus. But, later, it was found that the patent that the group had was not of covid-19, but it was of another coronavirus, related to poultry.

Covid Conspiracy 2: The virus escaped from a Chinese lab

This Conspiracy Theory is the most widely circulated. According to this theory, the coronavirus may have spread from Wuhan’s lab because there is not much distance between the Wuhan Institute of Virology and the wet market, which China describes as the origin of the covid-19. This type of study is called gain-of-function, in which scientists study viruses and try to find out how deadlier and transmissible they can be.

Many scientists and researchers also believe that this conspiracy theory can be right because, according to many reports, the safety measures were not up to the mark at the Wuhan Institute of virology. But, genetic sequencing determined that the new SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus did not match any of the viruses sampled and studied in the Wuhan Institute of Virology.

Covid Conspiracy 3: Covid was developed as a Biological weapon

Pew Research Center’s research shows that about 3 out of 10 people in America believe that covid-19 has been created intentionally in the lab. And many US politicians also consider this theory to be true to some extent, but there are no hard facts and evidence to support this theory.

This assumption can be easily debunked now that there is unambiguous scientific proof — thanks to genetic sequencing — that the SARS-CoV-2 virus has completely natural beginnings as a zoonotic virus starting in bats. The Examiner has since added a revision at the top of the initial piece narrating the story is probably false.

Covid Conspiracy 4: The US military imported Covid into China

Many questions were being raised on China regarding the origin of the Covid-19 pandemic, so China also started making theories about the origin. The Foreign Ministry of China said that the US military had brought Covid-19 to China at the time of the World Military Games, held there in October 2019.

According to the Atlantic, For China, this conspiracy theory, and an accompanying effort to rename COVID the “USA virus,”’ was a simple “geopolitical ploy” — useful for internal propaganda but not completely believed internationally.

Covid Conspiracy 5: 5G behind the Covid-19 pandemic

Conspiracy theories related to mobile phone technology have been going on for a long time. For example, doctors mentioned radiophobia in 1903, followed by fears about power lines and microwaves in the 1970s. And in the 1990s, some people said that there is a risk of cancer due to mobile radiation.

On 20 January, for the first time, the relation between 5g and coronavirus was found in a post. According to the post, the millimeter-wave spectrum used in 5G may be related to covid, and the post was referring to the 5G towers installed in Wuhan. The post said that it affects the immune system, but the BBC article shows that the 5g radio wave is small and it does not affect the immune system.

These are the top 5 covid conspiracy theories that have spread very fast, and many people believe in them, and because of which, they are afraid to take the vaccine. Apart from these conspiracy theories, many other conspiracy theories have been spread, but they have not been able to grab as much attention as these theories have.
