Tesla in Indian Market: The world’s well-known electric vehicle maker Tesla has withdrawn its intent to enter the Indian market. This has happened due to the non-reduction of import charges by the Indian government, due to which the planning of Tesla’s entry into India has gone into cold storage. It is now being reported that the company has begun rehiring local employees, giving hope to the news of Tesla coming to India.
This could be a disappointment to the jobs that Tesla is likely to create in the country. India is the world’s most extensive market, in which Tesla does not have a presence. Higher import charges have been a significant hindrance to Tesla’s entry into the Indian market. Although, there were some indications that it could enter the Tesla market in 2022. It incorporated an Indian unit in Bangalore as the company’s Indian branch.

The Indian government helps companies that manufacture electric vehicles in India in many ways, including higher import charges for electric automobiles. This policy has made it challenging for foreign EV companies in China and the US, who cannot enter the Indian market. Tesla had planned to build an EV production facility in India, but it was to be seen how its vehicles perform in the market first. Currently, 7 Tesla EVs have been tried and passed in India. The Transport Minister of the Government of India has told that the government wants Tesla to come to India and make electric cars, and not import them from China and sell them in India. There are no service centers and supercharger stations in India yet.

Let us tell you that some Tesla employees in India are now getting re-employed in foreign jobs. At the same time, the biggest difficulty in building Tesla’s EV production unit in China is its emphasis on adaptive import systems.
