The fasting of Mahashivratri is considered significant in Hinduism. Lord Bholenath i.e., Shiva himself, is the lord of Chaturdashi Tithi. That is why Chaturdashi of Krishna Paksha of every month is celebrated as Monthly Shivaratri. The fast of Shivratri holds special significance for women. Unmarried women pray to Lord Shiva for their husbands, while married women pray for their husbands and family.

According to mythological belief, Mata Parvati had asked Lord Shiva which thing pleases you the most, Lord Shiva said that the devotees fast for him with reverence, please him the most. On this day, devotees perform ‘Jalabhishek’ and worship in the pagodas for the fulfillment of their wishes and try to please Lord Shiva.

Nishith Kaal Pooja Muhurta – Pooja will be from 24:08:27 to 24:58:08 at night. The total duration of which is 0 hours 49 minutes. Apart from this, Mahashivratri Parana Muhurta is from 06:46:55 am on 2nd March.

By the way, devotees do their preparations for the day of Mahashivratri before the worship time. But if you are forgetting anything, then let us tell you that milk, curd, sugar, rice and Gangajal, Beelpatra, Fruits, Flowers, raw rice, white Sesame, standing moong, barley, to anoint Shiva on Mahashivratri. Include satua, incense sticks, sandalwood, honey, ghee, perfume, saffron, Datura, Rudraksha, sugarcane, or its juice and ashes in the puja thali.

Offer these things on Shivling even without forgetting

According to Hindu scriptures, we should never offer Tulsi leaves to Lord Shiva. They are displeased by offering Tulsi to Lord Shiva. Nowadays, some people offer packaged milk, they should not do so, even if they do not get it with milk. Also, keep in mind that we should only offer milk mixed with cold and Ganges water on Shivling. Do not offer Champa or Kettle flowers.

Also, do not offer broken rice i.e., broken Akshat to Shivling, on this day. Do not offer mutilated beelpatra. Along with this, applying kumkum tilak on Shivling is also prohibited.
