Texas school shooting Timeline 19 children and 2 adults killed

Police had made substantial changes and additions to the timeline of what happened when a gunman opened fire at a Texas elementary school.

Before entering school

Ramos declared his intentions in Facebook messages. He started the rampage by shooting his 66-year-old grandmother, Celia M. Gonzales, in the face at her home in Uvalde before arriving at the school.

11 a.m.

In the first post, “he said, ‘I’m going to shoot my grandmother,’ ” “The second post was, ‘I shot my grandmother,’ ”

11:15 A.M.

He dispatches another message on Facebook saying, “I’m going to shoot an elementary school.”

11:28 A.M.

Ramos hits his truck into a concrete drainage ditch near Robb Elementary School. He Fired at two people at a funeral home across the street from his wrecked vehicle and continued walking toward the school. He climbed a fence, entered the school parking lot, and fired at the building multiple times.

11:40 a.m.

He then enters the building through an unlocked door. Ramos shot most of his victims within the first few minutes of entering the school.

11:43 a.m.

Robb Elementary School announced a lockdown. The Uvalde Police Department shared details on Facebook.

11:44 a.m.

The Uvalde Police Department and the Uvalde Consolidated Independent School District Police Department moved inside the building. The officers heard gunfire and moved back to get cover. 

12:45-1 p.m.

U.S. Border Patrol tactical teams arrive, breach the classroom and kill Ramos.
